Dust, moisture, temperature fluctuations, vibration and intensive use place high demands on the switching elements used. With the RT1 Series, Althen now offers a rugged, sealed mini joystick with SPDT switch for applications where clear tactile feedback, a high protection rating and long service life are required.
An SPDT switch is a single pole double throw switch that connects one common contact to one of two output contacts. This allows two switching functions, such as up/down or on/off/on, to be implemented with a single control element.
The RT1 Series has been developed specifically for logic-level applications and is ideal as a rugged alternative to individual membrane button functions in industrial control panels. While membrane keypads often reach their limits in harsh environments, the RT1 mini joystick offers clear tactile feedback, ergonomic operation and a particularly robust mechanical design.
This makes the switch especially suitable for applications where operating comfort, reliability and protection against environmental influences are essential.
Single pole double throw function for flexible integration
The RT1 mini joystick is designed as a single pole double throw switch (SPDT) and supports both momentary and maintained operation. This allows the series to be easily integrated into existing or new control panels. Its compact design and available connection options make the switch particularly interesting for OEM applications where reliable switching functions are needed in limited space.
The RT1 Series is sealed to IP67 on the operating side and is therefore protected against dust, splash water and temporary immersion. This means the RT1 can also be used in outdoor applications and demanding industrial environments. Its temperature range of -30 °C to +85 °C and resistance to high humidity of up to 95% at 40 °C make it a suitable control element for control systems, machines and mobile systems.

The RT1 Series is designed for mechanical durability and long-lasting functionality. The switch lever is made of chrome-plated brass, while the housing and mounting components are made from robust metal alloys. This choice of materials ensures high stability, reliable operation and a high-quality tactile feel in daily use.
With at least 50,000 mechanical and electrical actuations, the RT1 mini joystick is designed for repeatable switching operations in demanding applications. Its sealed construction contributes to high operational reliability in the field.
