How do I specify the right ATEX joystick for my machine?
Selecting an ATEX joystick is not only about choosing an explosion-protected version. The joystick must match the hazardous zone, gas or dust group, temperature class and the way it is installed in the machine. Just as important are the control functions: number of axes, spring return, push buttons, dead-man switch, output signal, cable entry and mounting space.
For OEM applications, it is also important to check whether the joystick will be used directly by the operator, integrated into a control panel or combined with other HMI components. Althen Controls helps review these requirements early, so the joystick fits both the ATEX classification and the practical machine design.
What is the difference between linear and rotary position sensors?
Linear position sensors measure straight-line movement or displacement, while rotary position sensors measure angular position or rotational movement. The best choice depends on your application's measurement requirements.
