About the Digital Control System
The digital control system is designed as a compact unit housed in a 19-inch enclosure and is permanently installed as a stationary control station in an operation vehicle. It serves as the central interface between the operator and the robotic system, enabling precise control of all robot actions within the sewer.
A key element of the operating concept is proportional control via two joysticks. The speed and acceleration of each movement adapt directly to the joystick position, providing the operator with a highly intuitive and precise control experience.
The HE2 Multi-Axis Finger Joystick allows simultaneous control of multiple axes as well as additional functions via integrated switches in the joystick head. Its ergonomic multi-finger operation enables efficient and precise execution of both driving and working movements—an essential advantage for complex sewer construction applications.

Joystick integration
The joysticks were integrated into the digital control system, enabling precise and intuitive control of driving and operational movements. The switches integrated into the joystick head allow additional commands without changing hand position, ensuring continuous and efficient operation—crucial for consistent and precise workflows.
- Operating concept: Three-finger control for maximum precision
- Functionality: Simultaneous control of driving and working movements
- Integration: Seamless integration into existing control architecture
Benefits of the HE2 Multi-Axis Finger Joystick
The HE2 joystick offers clear advantages for operating robotic systems. Its high precision enables sensitive control of complex movements, while the ergonomic design supports intuitive finger operation and reduces operator fatigue. The ability to control multiple functions simultaneously significantly improves efficiency.
In addition, its robust construction ensures reliable performance even in demanding environments, while consistent and repeatable control characteristics guarantee high process reliability.
Another key advantage for the customer, besides the tactile quality, was the short delivery time of the joystick. This enabled rapid integration into the control system without delays in the development process and allowed faster commissioning at the end customer.
